PBHL-H401: Strategic Planning for Healthcare Organizations

Strategic Plan Document

This artifact is my Riverview Health Noblesville Hospital Strategic Plan Document for the course, PBHL-H401: Strategic Planning in Health Care. During the first half of the semester, each student independently created a preliminary working draft for a healthcare organization and location of our choosing. Because I was interning at Riverview Health Physicians at the time and was passionate about the organization, I chose to focus my project on Riverview's Noblesville Hospital.

During the second half of the semester, students formed groups and selected the strongest preliminary draft to move forward with and use to create a finalized strategic plan document. My preliminary draft was selected, so, as a group, we created a comprehensive 2026-2030 strategic plan for Riverview Health's Noblesville Hospital that included a range of components focused on growth and success.

Feel free to take a further look into my group's strategic plan document below!

What I Learned

I chose to highlight this assignment because I feel it represents the strongest knowledge and skills I have developed through my Health Services Management program. I created the bulk of the strategic plan document and also the employee retention initiative titled "Become Hamilton County's Best Place to Work". Through this course, and specifically this assignment, I gained valuable experience in strategic planning, including analyzing competitors and market trends, as well as understanding how healthcare organizations make long-term decisions centered on growth and sustainability.

This project was even more meaningful to me because it was directly connected to my internship at Riverview Health Physicians, allowing me to apply real-world experience and knowledge to an academic project. I was proud that my preliminary strategic plan was chosen to be the foundation for my group's final strategic plan document, and I received a 97 out of 100 on this assignment. I felt this was the project, out of my whole college career, that would benefit me the most in my future career in healthcare administration and provider recruitment.
